Jul 20, 2018, 03.25 PM / What you can expect from Cathay's new business class dining concept
I completely agree. I've done some fast train travel in Europe and it's wonderful – taking the best known example of Eurostar, it's pretty much just as fast on an overall city-to-city travel time basis but far more enjoyably and efficient from a business travel perspective.
Jul 19, 2018, 04.04 PM / For Qantas, Sydney-Melbourne is a billion dollar route
Eli: it's The New Thing, isn't it? Airlines are rebranding business class with its own unique brand (UA Polaris, AC Signature) although these represent the entire business class experience inc lounges, meals... the real catch is when an airline such as United launches its new seats under the Pola...

Patrickk, I agree that this can be mystifying to many people not of that ilk, which is why on Australian Business Traveller articles we never use three-letter airport codes (with the exception of LAX) and almost never use two-letter airline codes, so that our stories are immediately accessible to...
Jul 18, 2018, 09.20 PM / Virgin Australia to launch Newcastle-Auckland flights
That's an interesting take on flying Emirates to New York. I know that some people from Perth find it works for them, but from Melbourne – yeah, a longer way but 2 x 14hr legs is an interesting approach, on those flights that bag would definitely be handy!
Jul 18, 2018, 10.51 AM / Here are the best flights to New York which skip that LAX stopover
I use a Bellroy travel wallet, as Spankee says it's a bit over your budget but is deal – interesting reference from Jhor for the High Line wallet too, I should check that out. On my first trip to Europe many years ago (pre-Euro) I had this same issue with 'oversized' notes and ended up buy...
Jul 20, 2018, 10.42 AM / Recommendations for a traveller (not travel) wallet
I like the suggestion of Hawaiian Airlines: gives you a nice split of segment timing, the option of a great stop-over in Hawaii, and the bonus of entering the USA as a domestic traveller. My other suggestion would be to think outside the square a little more and fly with Cathay Pacific via Hong Ko...

Just a heads-up for any AusBT readers planning to fly from Melbourne to Fiji (Nadi)... finally you'll no longer need to cool your heels in Virgin's own T3 domestic lounge before making you way to T2 for the flight itself. Virgin Australia has advised us that as of July 1, "Business Class guests a...
Jul 05, 2018, 06.04 PM / New Virgin Australia lounge for Melbourne-Fiji
Three hours is rather a lot to spend at HKG, but if you want to sample The Pier business class lounge (which I rate very highly for a business class lounge) then by all means so do. The Tea Room's especially lovely and quite unique for any airport lounge.
