Qantas A330-200 single toilet aircraft refurb?

By RR | Apr 06, 2019, 03:33 PM

Does anyone know if Qantas have finally retired/refurbed/whatever the A330-200’s that had a single toilet in business?

Having experienced that aircraft a couple of times from Singapore, not keen to do again. The Qantas fleet page seems to indicate a lot (8+2) of them around under "International/Domestic A330-200”. I have checked a lot of blogs but can’t find a definitive answer. Thanks!

One lav in business class on the A330 would have to be one of Qantas' most arrogant and blatant disregard for premium pax ever. Thankfully they came to their senses by rectifying the issue, at least on the 300's. As for the reduction in business class labs on the A380...anoyther Qantas brainiac "enhancement". I hope the new returb gives those lavs back to J.

They have re-refurbed 6 (VH-EBO to EBS, EBV) with two (EBM,EBN) reportedly left to complete. These are the 8 newest 330-200s with seatback IFE in Economy and should predominately be used on the Asian routes.

The other 10 (including EBG which is yet to be converted from its 2x2x2 Business config) will remain as 28 Business with 1 toilet and be mostly used on domestic routes.

Could not agree more.

Just a minor observation, the A330-300 aircraft always had 2 business class lavatories. When the refurb was announced in 2014 Qantas assumed the majority of the A330-200 fleet would be plying the domestic routes. Times have changed indeed....I assume they figured that 1 lav would suffice for 4 hour flights. Glad to see they have made changes for long haul

Thanks all for info - but “mostly used on domestic routes” doesn’t exactly fill me with anticipation! Doing BNE-AKL in a few weeks, so I guess we could well end up with the single-lav A330-200. Some people take an inordinate amount of time in there, PLUS the crew use it, so it adds a layer of stress if you think you may not be able to go when you need to!

QF119 seems to be a mix of 333s and 332s, the later flight seems to be a 737.

While the 1 in 28 ratio isn't great, it's still a lot better those behind you in economy have (5 in 243/ 1 in 48) or 737 economy (2 in 162/1 in 81)

Seems an awful lot of whinging over the decidedly first world problem of possibly having to wait a couple minutes for a toilet. As pointed out above thank God youre not in economy like most people.

have you taken a look at the price difference between economy and business, one toilet is a joke, but so is Qantas

COUPLE OF MINUTES. it must be a very long time since you have tried to use the facilities. 20-30 minute waits are common.

I flew EBJ overnight from Singapore last week so the one lav 330s are still used internationally. Queues for the lav were long most times, especially after breakfast. When I pay a premium fare on a supposedly premium airline I expect appropriate facilities and service.

Don't you just love the "first world problem" putdown? Mate, if you are paying a premium price for what is advertised to be a premium product, it is not unreasonable to expect that it be delivered. One lav, say a couple of people in front of you in the queue, each wanting to go to the toilet, brush their teeth, do their hair and put on makeup, means a 20-30 minute wait (as per above comment).

Rather than the toilet, my biggest gripe at the back of the plane 332 last week from SIN was the teeny tiny IFE system... Was like watching a movie on a DS.. 4:3 small screen and 16:9 pictures do not work...
