Chicago AA Lounge

By Nichokiu | Nov 30, 2018, 02:40 AM
Hi all,

First time travelling on AA from Chicago to LA, and then QF back to Melbourne.

Could anyone please advise whether I can access the Chicago AA flagship lounge on the domestic leg from Chicago to LA? If so, do they offer an early check in (4-5 hours prior to flight) so I can use the lounge earlier?

Thanks so much.

AA OW Saphire & Emerald status won't get you into AA Lounge in ORD. AA Domestic flights you can check in ahead pretty much anytime on the day of flying. Heard that there is a yoga lounge in ORD.

The good news is that you can access the lounges. I'd recommend the Flagship lounge (of which there is one in ORD).

Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald status with airlines other than AA will get you into the Admirals and Flagship lounge regardless of whether you're on a domestic only or international itinerary.

AA Sapphire/Emerald will only get you into the Admirals Club with an international itinerary (without a separate Admirals club membership). Additionally, you can access the Flagship lounge with with AA Sapphire/Emerald if travelling internationally.

My post before, assumes you have Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status and not Qantas Club (specifically for ORD AA lounge access).

All depends on OW status, if you hold AA status may depend on class of travel as to whether you can access the Flagship lounge. If QF Plat/Emerald will be absolutely no issue into the Flagship lounge which actually in ORD is a very good lounge, it’s one of the recently refurbished AA lounges and is of a good quality with good food & beverage selectiom

Thanks so much for the replies everyone. I am QF Gold, so hopefully it gets me in several hours early without too much hassles! Hopefully they'd let me check in 4-5 hours or so before the flight..

You will be all good to go then.

Also in response to @crwilkins, the devil is in the detail. If you buy an AA first class domestic only ticket, and have no OW/AA status or have AA status Sapphire/Emerald status, they don't give you lounge access without an Admirals Club membership (exception is non-stop AA transcontinental flights on their three class A321 between SFO/LAX and JFK)

Thanks everyone.

Can I ask whether I can guest one person that is not flying on AA? (Air Canada) but will be also leaving from ORD at the same day/time?

Is that possible please?

The oneworld guest access rules state they need to be travelling on an oneworld operated and marketed flight. It’s worth asking though.

Try to minimise AA lounge time at ORD. limited everything, always underwhelming IMO.
