Jetstar adding extra row of seats

Just came across this article where Jetstar is in the process of installing new seats to add capacity to its a320s. The new seats seem a lot thinner and not as comfortable as their current ones. Just wondering if this would also affect their a321s and whether anyone has experienced this.

I don't want to get stuck into Jetstar -- budget airlines have their place and they make a lot of people very happy by giving them affordable air travel. But it doesn't matter to me how comfortable/uncomfortable the seats themselves are; the issue is their 29-inch pitch. A couple of years ago I flew Jetstar overnight on a PER-MEL flight. The person behind me was 6 foot 2 inches, holding a baby, and she couldn't help but have her knees dug into my back for the duration of the flight -- even with my seat upright. I vowed after that to never fly Jetstar again for anything longer than a 1-hour flight. I'd happily sit on a thinner seat as long as I didn't have two knees digging into my back...

Agree with you on that but for a 1-2hr flight from MEL-BNE/SYD or BNE-CNS its fine.

The space for new seats will be obtained by removing the two rear lavatories and fitting them into half of the tail space of the plane (previously not utilised), side by side and with a crew seat on the door of the middle lavatory to save space.

29 inches of leg room is not "fine" for taller travellers. I would struggle to fit in the seats.

Then why travel with Jetstar? Chose some other airline or pay for the extra room in business.

The exact same new seats are already on the newest A321s (VH-VWQ and -VWN, both delivered in late 2016). They're fine for short hops, but they're not half as nice in my experience as the older slimline seats on the older A321s and A320s (which have the full-width upper literature pocket).
