So I'm trying understand the relationship VA has with Phillipine Airlines. It is in the in flight magazine but for the life of me can't find more details.

Maybe VA is using 'partnership' in an extremely loose sense to indicate, as occurs, that normally PR passengers booked to or from other Australian domestic (or some VA international ports like NAN) will normally travel on VA and not QF/JQ.

Like you, I don't know of any other relationship PR has with VA, although at one recent stage PR was looking for a commercial partner.

PR flies modern aircraft (A333/A359/A321neo) to Oz Ports served by nonstops from MNL are BNE, MEL and SYD, the latter two daily.

I should have added that PR is not in any major alliance such as *Alliance, SkyTeam or OneWorld. Some find this annoying, especially since Philippines has developed so much economically.

Even if it wanted to be, other member(s) might well use any veto they had to block it.

I assume it's just an interlining arrangement?

This is the thing. The only reference is in the inflight magazine. Which is up to date as of yesterday because it was like ANZ who?

Looks like it's just VA's interline partners (tickets can be bought via third party travel agents or even the airlines' website).

It even lists NZ as a interline partner. Korean Air (SkyTeam), KLM (SkyTeam, who also have a codeshare agreement with QF), Qatar (Oneworld), Thai (Star) and Cathay (Oneworld) are also listed as VA's interline partners for example.

Interline partnership does not equal frequent flyer relationship, that is the important thing to note.
