Virgin Australia award seats to LAX now available

By MelRTW | Apr 03, 2018, 11:58 AM
Was snooping around on expert flyer and saw a few J seats available for award/upgrade. April 6th on VA1 and VA7.
I'm not flying for a few months, but thought someone might be keen! Good luck.

I've always found that what ExpertFlyer says doesn't match what's actually available via the VA website, specifically on LAX flights (when I was researching availability for Qantas vs Velocity, I had to disregard all VA LAX results from ExpertFlyer as they didn't match what was actually available). On other routes it's a bit more reliable, unless they've fixed things up more recently for LAX.

good to know. I checked the VA website, so these do exist (for now). But I'll be wary in future.

How far in advance are they putting them up? Hunting for availability departing boxing day.

Someone just snapped up a couple that popped up on 29 April for VA1. I guess it's a game of BAZINGA!

I snapped up a couple for VA1 on 29/4 :) Can anyone explain why, with 14-odd free seats still in J that VA would now close off reward availability for this flight?

I tried to book reward tickets LAX to SYD and vice versa in business class and there was nothing available on several dates up to a year out. Do Virgin actually make reward tickets available or is there a trick to it? I find Qantas easy to buy reward tickets but Virgin is a nightmare

Are there other services like ExpertFlyer that you'd recommend for that purpose? My partner has a medical condition which means she can only lie flat for long flights. It makes visiting family very difficult without upgrades. We were able to upgrade coming back LAX to SYD (through MEL) once but haven't been able to since then and it looks like there's not a lot of options in future either. :
