Aegean 40% bonus on purchased miles

By Patricio | Aug 16, 2018, 01:31 AM
I fly primarily with Qantas and One world but now and again end up on star alliance mostly in Europe, so I made Aegean my home with SA, i find them quite good on short hops around the med.

Anyway, they have a 40% bonus on a purchase of miles presently, so considered purchasing some to redeem on business with Singapore airlines from Australia to Europe. Has anyone experience with this? I know ppl rave about the alaskan airlines bonus and it's value for Qantas redemptions, I wondered if this had any merit.

Thanks in advance.

For *A, the 2 popular one that often go on sale are UA's mileage plus and AV's LM. Both don't have fuel surcharges which are a great advantage over A3.

Personally I find LM is of better value due to its flexible payment option that I don't need to hoard a large amount of miles in my account.

Singapore Airlines doesn't normally release premium reward seats on its Airbus A380s, Boeing 777-300ERs or more recently, Airbus A350s to Star Alliance partners unless they have a separate agreement (instead reserving them for KrisFlyer members, Velocity members and other 'closer' partners), and unfortunately, that covers most flights between Singapore and Australia/Europe.

On the other hand, Thai Airways usually has pretty good availability, especially if you book in advance, and offers first class out of Sydney./
