American Airlines to revamp Flagship Lounges, Admirals Clubs

Qantas partner American Airlines is gearing up for a massive overhaul of its network of Flagship Lounges and Admirals Clubs, along with its Arrivals Lounge at London Heathrow.

Cornerstone to the upgrades is a new ‘Flagship Dining’ experience exclusively for first class passengers with waiters offering complimentary restaurant dining with full table service in Los Angeles, New York (JFK), Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami…

... while the broader Flagship Lounges will offer all other guests – including Qantas Platinum members and other Oneworld Emerald frequent flyers – a greater variety of hot and cold food from 2017 following more refurbishments extending also to Houston and Chicago.

Flagship Lounges will also open their doors to business class guests on flights to Australia and New Zealand, on A321T transcontinental flights and when flying trans-Atlantic or to “deep South America” from 2017 in a win for business travellers.

The Admirals Clubs, home to Qantas Gold and Oneworld Sapphire frequent flyers, Qantas Club and Admirals Club members, aren’t forgotten either with updated furnishings, dynamic lighting, more power points and an overall fresh design.

Already complete in Phoenix and São Paulo, next in line for the new look are the Admirals Clubs at Los Angeles, New York JFK and Miami where you’ll also find a reinvigorated bar area: continuing AA’s offering of full bartender service.

Rounding out the refurbs are improvements to AA’s London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge with renovations beginning this month to bring private showers and dressing areas, an improved food and beverage service area and also a valet pressing service for the airline’s top travellers.

As much as the US big three bitch about having to compete with the ME3, it seems obvious that the competitive pressure is forcing the US3 to up their game, at least with the premium guests. Good. Competition is working.
