Qantas promises to fix Internet woes at Singapore lounges

Having trouble connecting to the Internet at the Qantas/BA lounges at Singapore's Changi Airport?

You're not alone – many Australian Business Traveller readers have shared their frustration at connecting to the woefully-slow-when-it-works-at-all wireless Internet at Changi's Qantas/BA business and first lounges.

Our journalist John Walton experienced these issues first-hand on a visit last week, noting that he was "barely able to load any webpage, and only after three attempts could I get a speed test to work."

The result of that test? See for yourself...

That's right: an almost unusable 0.78Mbps. That puts the kibosh on web browsing, emails and just about anything else you want to do online while you wait for your flight.

Qantas says it's aware of the problem and is working to get the Net back to the speeds which business travellers rely on, especially when it comes to catching up on emails during the transit stop-over between Australia and London.

"We have been working for some time with the service provider to rectify the issue" a Qantas spokesperson tells Australian Business Traveller. "It involves some re-wiring through the terminal and we expect this to be completed in coming weeks."

Hope they can also do something to fix theinternet in the First Class Lounge at LAX.  It's also totally rubbish.  When you pay upwards of god knows what for a sest to USA, the least that QF could offer in LA is an internet connection speed that allows "business" to be done.

This problem has been around for many years, I've heard so many excuses, explainations & apologies from lounge staff as to why the wifi is so useless.  The irony as asw points out is if you step outside [email protected] is excellent, surely pax should be able to work, commuicate etc in the lounge, that's what it for, please sort this nonsense out Qantas.
