The W brand will return to Sydney in 2019, with the upmarket 'chic luxe' hotel taking centre stage at Darling Harbour as part of the precinct's multi billion-dollar redevelopment.
With 402 rooms, The W Sydney will be perched atop The Ribbon – an eye-catching 20-storey development which will take over the footprint of the current IMAX theatre, soaring upwards between the area's elevated roadways.
Of course, there's also the mandatory infinity pool.
The Ribbon will also include serviced apartments and house an all-new IMAX cinema.
(Sydney's previous W hotel, on the historic Finger Wharf at Woolloomooloo, now carries the banner of Hong Kong-based Ovolo.)
The W Sydney will follow the opening of the W Brisbane in 2018, located at the western end of the CBD overlooking the Brisbane River....
... while its new Sydney neighbours will include the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, a 35 storey 600-room hotel adjacent to the International Convention Centre...
... and from the end of this year the Hyatt Regency, which will take over the current Four Points by Sheraton hotel straddling the northern edge of Chinatown.
