Virgin Australia has finalised which lounges its business class passengers and top-tier frequent flyers will use at both ends of the airline's direct flights between Melbourne and Hong Kong.
At Melbourne Airport, passengers booked in the pointy of Virgin's Airbus A330 – along with Velocity Platinum and Velocity Gold card-holders – will make their way to the Etihad Airways lounge.
It’s going to be a great way to start your journey, with the focal point of the Melbourne lounge being an inviting bar area with full bartender service.
Ahead of the return leg from Hong Kong, those same travellers will relax at the Club Bauhinia lounge.
Located near Gate 23, this is the flagship lounge of Virgin partner Hong Kong Airlines, with the necessary creature comforts including plenty of seating with panoramic views of the airport apron...
... plus a buffet spread boasting local treats such as dim sum, egg puffs, soya beancurd dessert, Hong Kong-style milk tea and made-to-order noodles.
There are also showers (handy after a day spent in the hot Hong Kong summer), two private meeting rooms and a quiet zone.
Australian Business Traveller will file a review of Hong Kong Airlines' Club Bauhinia lounge after our return from Virgin Australia's inaugural Melbourne-Hong Kong flight.
