Virgin Australia serves Christmas fare in lounges and in the air

Virgin Australia is getting into the Christmas spirit with seasonal fare being served in its lounges, as well as a special lunch and dinner on all flights running on Christmas Day.

From December 12th through to December 26th, travellers passing through Virgin Australia's airport lounges (including the newly-expanded Melbourne lounge) can enjoy roast turkey and stuffing sandwiches with cranberry sauce, caramelised onions and rocket.

Also on hand are Christmas cookies and traditional mince pies.

And if you're flying on December 25th you'll be served a hot lunch and/or dinner of roast turkey with chestnut stuffing, cranberry jus, herb roasted chat potatoes, green beans and roasted pumpkin.

This will be available to all business class travellers on all flights that day, along with every passenger – yes, even if you're sitting in economy and have paid the cheapest fare – on Virgin's transcontinental flights plus flights to Abu Dhabi, Bali, Fiji, Los Angeles, New Zealand and Thailand.

Don't forget that Virgin Australia is also offering double status credits in its Velocity Frequent Flyer scheme for domestic and international flights booked until December 31st 2013, with travel to take place between February 1st and June 30th 2014.

"Christmas cheer"....for a select few!!!  it doesnt spread to about 80+% of its Y/C pax on all the other routes VA has...on a side note..i cant find any VA operated flight to Abu Dhabi on Dec25...so they shirk their commitment there!! lol

Interesting... passing through the MEL VA lounge on my way to BNE today I didn't notice anything out of the (drab) ordinary. Oh... I tell a lie. I saw half a dozen broken mince pies a few minutes ago here in the BNE VA lounge :/

Flying J BNE-MEL on Christmas night... here's hoping for some Christmas turkey cheer ;)

I shall have their share of cheer, then ;)

Maybe I should commit a random act of Christmas and bring something for those in Y #RAC13

Qantas should be Australia's national airline - even though it's slopped down to junk status, it's got much more "frills" (e.g. A380, good international seats) than VA.

VA is better on domestic though.

Really does show how shocking Qantas has become when Virgin have to lead the way. The Business lounge is truely a joke on Qantas now and the new staff are so useless. Bring back the old staff!!!

Nice one Virgin Australia, especially the Christmas Day catering for all flying pax, regardless of class. Now that's true Christmas spirit - almost makes me wish I was flying on Xmas!
