Virgin America moves to Gogo high-speed inflight Internet

IN BRIEF | Virgin America is now serving up high-speed Internet on all flights with the fleetwide rollout of Gogo's fast 'ATG-4' service.

Speeds beamed to the Branson-backed airline and partner to Virgin Australia now top out at 9.8Mbps – some three times the 3.1Mbps of the previous-gen Gogo tech.

However, the connection to each passenger's smartphone, tablet or laptop will depend on how many fellow travellers are logged on at the same time.

Pricing starts at US$5 for a single hour online, through to the US$60 per month 'Gogo Unlimited Pass' for use on all Gogo-equipped airlines.
