AJ should be hassling CASA for Cape Town. The A350-1000 already has that range, so long as CASA allows for ETOPS as the Europeans and Americans have.

The JQ 787 pilots who moved from the A330 were not impressed with their transition.I spoke to a couple of pilots pre-departure when travelling to HKT - they described the 787 as a "pig" in comparison to to the Airbus.

So QF future strategy might have the 789's replacing the 330's to Asia, and send the 330's trans-cont and trans-Tasman? Have a decent product on those two key routes, perhaps?

If we are talking long legs, the 777x or 359 (ULR) would be the beasts to have. I certainly can see QF taking the A350 is CASA pull their fingers out for ETOPS 370 as a 744 replacement to Joburg.

Why would you want to? The BA T3 lounges are average at best. Given T5 is the "BA terminal", BA have spent up big to make those lounges far superior to the ones in T3.
