Starwood opens The Luxury Collection: Suiran hotel in Kyoto, Japan

The doors are now open to Starwood’s latest hotel: Suiran, part of The Luxury Collection portfolio and the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) loyalty scheme.

Located in the Arashiyama district in the western part of Kyoto, guests can enjoy views of the Arashiyama hills from 39 ryokan-inspired guestrooms.

Occupying part of the grounds of Tenryuji Temple, the hotel sits amidst a world heritage site that formerly housed ‘Rantei’, a traditional Japanese ryokan that was used to entertain honourable guests of the Japanese government.

The hotel’s restaurant, Kyo Suiran, and café Saryo Hassui are housed within century-old structures that have been restored, with Kyoto-themed dishes on the menu in Kyo Suiran and meals centred around Japanese green tea at Saryo Hasui, underneath a straw-thatched roof in a nod to tradition.

You’ll also find two private spa treatment rooms to relax in your downtime, with open-air baths and traditional Japanese massage treatments using tea oil.

Members of Starwood Preferred Guest can earn and redeem Starpoints at The Luxury Collection: Suiran hotel, with Gold and Platinum members enjoying their usual privileges including room upgrades and a welcome gift.
