Qatar confirms Paris, New York are next for Qsuite business class

Qatar Airways has confirmed Paris and New York as the next destinations to see the airline's new Qsuite business class berths, following the debut of the 'super business class' on Doha-London flights from June 24, 2017.

The Oneworld member airline runs three flights daily between Doha and Paris, with two daily flights to New York, with their respective Boeing 777 flights tipped for the upgrade to the suites, which feature sliding privacy doors and centre seats which convert into a double bed or a 'quad' of four facing seats.

Qatar Airways said in a statement today that its fleet will be retrofitted with the new suites "at the rate of one plane per month".

This 'classic' Boeing 777-300ER layout – and that of the longer-range Boeing 777-200LR – will contain 42 Qsuites in business class.

... with 36 Qsuites in the Airbus A350-900 and 46 in the larger Airbus A350-1000, which will take wing by year's end.

    With the retrofit taking place "at a rate of one plane per month", does that mean one 777/A350 per month? At that rate, won't it take 4-5 years before the retrofit is done?  Seems awfully slow.

    Did Qsuites Doha-Paris on 15 October - nice experience. I had a one-berth (4J) on the starboard side and liked the feeling of being in a posh railway compartment all to myself. Nice interior design too in QR shades of purple and dark brown, although the door to my suite came off its tracks halfway through the flight (apparently they are prone to doing so) and the crew fixed it while I paid a visit to the bathroom.


    Only quibble is that leg room - in a tapered recess - is limited. Also a bit of unnecessary room is taken up by a flat storage area by the window. It holds a complimentary pillow and amenity kit. The flat-recline bed experience was OK.

    Good responsive service on the flight and enjoyable food and drink. Lanson Black Label is the house pour. The menu is on the light side and appears to be the same worldwide. I had come off the AKL-Doha service so it was a bit of hmmm, I'll have this instead of that to save repeating the same meal. Overall, point me at one of these seats anytime and I'll be in!
