Qatar Airways: double points, Oneworld Sapphire fast-track

Qatar Airways Privilege Club members travelling on the airline's new flights from both Sydney and Adelaide can earn double frequent flyer points and can also fast-track to Gold frequent flyer status under Qatar's latest promotion.

Sydneysiders can collect those double points – or 'Qmiles' in Privilege Club lexicon – by booking a Qatar Airways journey to Doha and beyond to any of 150+ destinations between December 15 2015 and March 31 2016, for travel between March 1 and July 31 2016.

Similarly, Adelaide residents can book between December 15 2015 and May 31 2016 for travel between May 2 and September 30 2016 to earn their own serve of double Qmiles.

You'll earn those extra points whether flying in business class or economy, although business class passengers who book and fly within the windows above will also be bumped up to Privilege Club Gold status after their trip is complete.

On-par with Qantas Frequent Flyer Gold status, Qatar's own Gold frequent flyers enjoy many familiar perks such as priority check-in, airport lounge access and priority boarding, and receive Oneworld Sapphire recognition across the Oneworld alliance.

That includes with airlines like Qantas, British Airways and Cathay Pacific on which you'd also receive these privileges, even if stuck in economy.

Importantly, you'll need to be a Qatar Airways Privilege Club member to take advantage of this offer and will need to register via the 'My offers' page on the Privilege Club website at least 24 hours before you travel.

Your Privilege Club membership will also need to have an Australian address on file, and you'll need to begin your journey on Qatar's flights from Sydney and Adelaide – Qatar's existing services from Melbourne and Perth are excluded from this deal.

Finally, Qatar will process eligible Gold membership upgrades at the end of each month between June and October 2016, so if you fly from Sydney in March, you may be waiting until the end of June or even July for your Gold membership to come through.
