Qantas boosts its Broome Airport lounge

Qantas is building a bigger lounge at WA's Broome Airport, with the refurbished lounge almost doubling in size when it reopens mid-year.

Broome's Qantas Regional Lounge will close its doors this week to allow the make-over to begin, with eligible travellers being given a voucher to purchase food and drink at airport retail outlets until the lounge reopens in July.

“With Qantas offering thousands of seats into Broome each week, we have witnessed first-hand the significant growth in travel to the region" said Lyell Strambi, CEO of Qantas Domestic

“The expanded Qantas Regional Lounge will help cater for this extra capacity and give passengers more room to relax and work prior to their flight" Strambi said, while avoiding the obvious if painful pun that the new lounge will give travellers 'Broome to move'.

Qantas is also adding a new weekly direct return service between Broome and Melbourne, bringing to 25 the tally of weekly Qantas and QantasLink flights to Broome from Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, across the airlines' fleets of Boeing 737-800 and 717 aircraft.
