Qantas adds to American Airlines codeshare flights

IN BRIEF | Qantas is putting nine more American Airlines routes from Los Angeles and Dallas/Fort Worth onto its roster of codeshares which can be booked as Qantas flights.

The list includes three new destinations in Hawaii along with Atlanta, San Antonio and Richmond, Virginia.

Here's the full rundown:

  • Los Angeles – Lihue (LIH)
  • Los Angeles – Kona (KOA)
  • Los Angeles – Maui (OGG)
  • Los Angeles – Atlanta (ATL)
  • Los Angeles – San Antonio (SAT)
  • Los Angeles – Tampa (TPA)
  • Dallas/Fort Worth – Richmond (RIC)
  • Dallas/Fort Worth – Tucson (TUS)
  • Dallas/Fort Worth – Albuquerque (ABQ)

The new routes are on sale today for travel from November 27.

“Qantas customers now have access to over 130 codeshare city pairs across North America, Canada and Mexico from our Los Angeles and Dallas gateways" said Qantas Executive Manager International Sales Stephen Thompson, which meant "more opportunities to earn frequent flyer points and have their luggage checked straight through to their final destination.”

The American Airlines partnership made it possible for Qantas to deliver "more choices, easier connections and a better overall travel experience" Thompson added.

I am surprised QF have not added LAX to YVR, seeing AS will be reducing flights.

My luggage being checked to my final destination? On an international flight connecting to a domestic flight in the US?

Was Qantas able to change that odd collect and recheck policy in the US? I'm amazed...
