Novotel takes over Hotel Grand Chancellor Surfers Paradise

AccorHotels’ Novotel brand is taking over the Hotel Grand Chancellor Surfers Paradise property, being re-badged this month simply as the Novotel Surfers Paradise.

Joining Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach, The Sebel Coolangatta and Mercure Resort Gold Coast in Queensland’s south east, this fourth property is a strategic play by Accor in the lead-up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games and comes in response to sustained growth in passenger numbers at Gold Coast Airport.

Being under the Novotel banner allows members of the Le Club AccorHotels loyalty program to earn and redeem points at the hotel from October, with extra recognition for Silver members such as free welcome drinks and late check-outs, plus room upgrades and more for Gold and Platinum cardholders.

“The Novotel brand is prominent in countries across Asia and with the prospect of even more direct flights from Asian destinations, the presence of a well-known international brand such as Novotel can contribute to the region’s ability to attract major conferences, events and groups,” said AccorHotels COO Simon McGrath.

“It is an exciting time to be in the Gold Coast, with major infrastructure projects such as the Light Rail project having such an impact and with the Commonwealth Games just two years away,” McGrath adds.

The hotel will undergo a multi-million dollar renovation project to refresh its rooms and public areas – including its restaurants – throughout 2017 and 2018 to better-reflect the Novotel brand, with the property found on Cavill Mall as part of the Paradise Centre with 409 rooms overall.

While you’re not far from the beach, there’s also a gymnasium, outdoor pool and tennis count to help you keep fit on the road or while you relax on holiday.

Good to see Accor expanding on the Gold Coast.
I'd probably hold off staying until after the long overdue renovations.
