If you’re a business owner looking to maximise your Qantas Points earn, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t sign your business up to the Qantas Business Rewards program – all you need is a valid ABN and you can save on flights. You can also start earning more Qantas Points when you and your team fly, as well as on your everyday business expenses.
This article is sponsored by Qantas
The sign-up process is simple – just plug in your business details (including your ABN), and start earning points for your business right away.
How it works
Qantas Business Rewards provides businesses with the opportunity to earn additional Qantas Points on every eligible flight from the first flight taken.
We say ‘additional’ points because as a Qantas Business Rewards member, your business earns points on flights on top of those Qantas Points and Status Credits you and your team can earn as individual members of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.
Eligible Qantas flights include flights operated by codeshare partners Emirates and American Airlines with a QF flight number.
Savings from the program are immediate, as you’ll instantly have access to a 5% discount on eligible airfares without any minimum spend required. The more you spend and fly, the more you save, with discounts rising to 8% on eligible airfares, plus a 2% discount on selected Red e-Deals#.
Points for your business
The amount of points your business earns depends on which tier of the program you’ve progressed to:
When starting out with the program, your business will earn 20% of the amount of Qantas Points earned by Qantas Frequent Flyers on every eligible flight, going up to 40% when you’re earning 100,000 or more Qantas Points in each membership year.
Meanwhile, at all levels of the program your flyers earn the same Qantas Points and Status Credits as they do now, with the added benefit of receiving a 10% discount on Qantas Club membership. This means that you can essentially ‘double-dip’ on points earned from flights, since you can transfer Qantas Points earned for the business into any Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Points can then be redeemed for upgrades, flights, or over 7,000 items from the online Qantas Store, so you can reward yourself or your team.
Streamline your business travel
The Qantas Business Rewards program also allows you to streamline your business travel management.
Your personal dashboard allows you to quickly book flights for multiple travellers at the same time, while ensuring you get the best flight deal. Learn more about how to use the new online booking tool here. Alternatively, you can continue booking through your preferred travel agent if you prefer.
Self-booking for Frequent Flyers
If you’d rather have your team manage their own bookings, the new self-booking feature will let them book business flights through the Qantas App - but only if you’ve allowed them to.
Once you’ve set up your Frequent Flyers in the system, tick the box that allows them to self-book through the Qantas App. Now your ABN gets automatically populated into bookings made by them so you’ll still earn Qantas Points and access savings for your business without having to micro-manage bookings.
You’ll still be able to view all bookings for your business made through Qantas Business Rewards and through the Frequent Flyer self-booking feature - giving you full visibility over your spend.
How much can you save?
You can use the points calculator to see how you can maximise your potential points earnings through the Qantas Business Rewards program.
For example, a business spending $20,000 a month on an eligible credit card, with a domestic flight every month or two and a couple of international trips to Asia would be able to earn close to 180,000 points* in addition to what they would earn from the flights alone – enough for a return trip from Sydney to New York and Sydney to Hong Kong**.
Additionally, the instant flight savings makes it a simple decision for most business owners. Even if your business doesn’t do a lot of flying, the Qantas Business Rewards program is still a great way to earn Qantas Points and reward yourself and your team members – you can join up for Qantas Business Rewards here.
