Lufthansa, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit team up for business class meals

Lufthansa and Bangkok's Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit are ready to give the airline's business class meals a dash of east-meets-west flavour.

New dishes created by Luca Cesarini (below), Executive Chef of the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, will be offered to all Lufthansa business class passengers flying from Bangkok to Germany.

Cesarini is the newest member of Lufthansa's Star Chefs program, which sees tailor-made premium menus for first and business class passengers created by award-winning chefs from around the world.

From September 1, Lufthansa's business class passengers will be offered a choice of three Cesarini-inspired starters:

  • a seafood option (such as avocado crab meat timbale with vegetables curls and a capsicum-carrot -puree)
  • a meat option (for example, slow roasted beef with chickpea salad, mint tabouleh and a Mediterranean carrot salad)
  • and a vegetarian option (shaved cantaloupe melon combined with feta cheese, rocket and walnut)

Some of the main course dishes will include

  • anise seeds spiced veal tenderloin with herbed potatoes and caramelized apple
  • stir fried prawns with green peppercorn, vegetable fried rice, oyster bok choi and shiitake mushroom
  • sage butter soft potato gnocchi in blue cheese cream sauce, Swiss chard and sundried tomato

Cesarini's desset selection will feature hazelnut parfait with egg nog sauce and New York cheese cake with blueberry compote.

"As Executive Chef at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, Luca Cesarini has enhanced the hotel’s reputation as a gourmet destination" said Richard Chapman, the hotel's General Manager.

"The luxurious hotel is renowned for Rossini’s, one of the finest Italian restaurants in Bangkok, and Basil, a stylish contemporary restaurant serving authentic Thai cuisine with flair and creativity. We are delighted that he will provide Lufthansa’s passengers with a mouth-watering and memorable dining experience."

Sounds delicious ! I wonder if any airline teamed up or seeker advice from chef David Thomson? It would be a great experience on east meat west culinary feast at 35000 feet! Let's see if I can change my next trip to Germany from the obligatory MEL-DXB-FRA to MEL-BKK-FRA for this new experience.
