Langham adds more five-star luxe to Shanghai

Langham adds more five-star luxe to Shanghai

Shanghai’s car-free and some would suggest care-free shopping, eating and entertainment district of Xintiandi is now home to China’s ninth Langham hotel.

The aptyl-named Langham Xintiandi soars rather obviously among the historic Shikumen or ‘stone gate’ townhouses packed into narrow alleys.

(But then, it’d be hard to imagine a five-star hotel with 24 storeys and 357 rooms and suites could exactly blend in, and the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Grand suites will afford panoramic views over the Shikumen storefronts below.)

The Grand rooms are said to fuse “traditional elements with modern décor” – and we’ll take a punt that the 40 inch flat-screen TV, digital audio system with iPod docking station and wireless Internet access belongs to the ‘modern’ part of that mix.

To tempt you try The Langham Xintiandi on your next business trip to Shanghai there’s a special introductory offer of RMB 2,700+ (A$410) per night for a minimum of two nights through to December 30, 2010. This includes a return airport limousine transfer, unlimited laundry and dry-cleaning, complimentary Internet and international Skype telephone calls, breakfast and mini-bar.
