Hawaiian Airlines upgrades Brisbane flights to Airbus A330s

Hawaiian Airlines will swap out its ageing Boeing 767s between Brisbane and Honolulu in favour of newer Airbus A330s, bringing with it a better travel experience both up the front and down the back.

Every business class passenger picks up 3-4 extra inches of legroom, along with their own AC power outlet for keeping phones, laptops and tablets juiced up during the flight.

In economy, the A330 comes with seatback inflight entertainment as opposed to the tablet-for-hire arrangements on the Boeing 767, although anything beyond the basic audio channels and the Hawaiian Skies video still comes at an extra charge.

The big switcheroo happens on Friday December 5 out of Honolulu, with the first A330 bound for Brisbane as HA443, returning on December 6 on HA444.

Hawaiian Airlines ramped up its Brisbane flights in March this year, moving from three to four flights per week – while Jetstar will launch twice-weekly services on the route in December, also using an A330 with business class and economy.

Living under the flight path. One less 767 roaring overhead. Fantastic!

Still don't get why Hawaiian airlines would want to fly to a sub-tropical city when they could tap into Melbourne (Victoria and Tasmania even SA) where winter is more intense. Jetstar flies A330 from melb to Honolulu so they make the distance.

Brisbane is nothing like Honolulu. I know at least half a dozen people who have gone to Hawaii this year, on HA from BNE. We like to holiday in warm places as well...
