Virgin Australia will open its own lounge at Brisbane Airport's international terminal for business class travellers and top-tier frequent flyers.
Dubbed My Lounge and operated by UK-based No1 Lounges – which will also take over Etihad's Sydney and Melbourne lounges, and open these to Virgin passengers – it will be located adjacent to Gate 77, towards the end of the terminal's northern concourse.
A spokesperson for Virgin Australia tells Australian Business Traveller that the new lounge is "due to open towards the end of November" in what was "previously a gate lounge that wasn’t utilised."
The lounge will be "specifically designed in the style of a loft apartment"...
... presented as a "relaxed contemporary environment... with seating for more than 100 guests."
Travellers can look forward to a dining area with a 'grazing menu of healthy and indulgent choices'...
... plus barista-pulled coffee and a bar.
There will also be a small working area...
... plus a games room, although it appears this will be more of a nook.
The lounge will be open to Virgin's business class passengers, Platinum and Gold members of the Velocity Frequent Flyer scheme plus members of the Virgin Australia Lounge program on Virgin flights to New Zealand, Los Angeles, Bali and the Pacific islands including Fiji.
The spokesman said that "Virgin Australia will have priority access to the lounge," implying that lounge operator No1 Lounges may also allow pay-in entry to travellers on other airlines. Australian Business Traveller has approached No1 Lounges for comment.
