Conrad London St. James set to become the UK

London will play host to the United Kingdom’s first Conrad hotel from September 2014 with the opening of the Conrad London St. James.

Standing at six floors with 256 rooms, the property is located in central London between the iconic Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace, taking over the existing InterContinental London Westminster hotel.

Set to become the 24th jewel in the Conrad crown, John T.A. Vanderslice, Global Head: Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Worldwide explained London’s appeal to the hotel chain: "London continues to be a political, cultural, and economic powerhouse in the world, which makes it a natural destination for international travellers."

Blending a historic 19th century building with locally-inspired style and design, Conrad London St. James’ six floors nestle in 42 premium rooms and suites, including a discreet penthouse.

All rooms come with either king-sized or twin beds, relaxing bathtubs, walk-in showers, free Wi-Fi, a media hub, while there’s also a dedicated Club Lounge for eligible guests.

The hotel's restaurant is set to open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while the bar hints at a traditional British pub with carefully selected local ales, stylish cocktails and British wines.

Business travellers will find a 24-hour business centre, seven fully equipped meeting rooms as well as the Whitehall Suite which can accommodate up to 300 guests for conferences or special events.

Guests can also make use of Conrad’s own Concierge mobile app, which lets visitors customise their hotel stays both before and during each visit via a smartphone or tablet.

Hilton HHonors members will be able to earn and redeem HHonors points for stays at the Conrad London St. James, which is set to compete with the ultra-luxe Shangri-La London at the Shard.

I wouldn't call this the 'first' Conrad hotel in the UK. Does anyone remember the Conrad Chelsea Harbour hotel right up to mid 2000s?

I might be wrong, but I think the Trafalgar on the Corner of Cockspur St and Trafalgar Square is a Conrad.  It's a high end Hilton, and not branded as a standard Hilton or Waldorf.  I haven't been for a couple of year's now, but was always a good hotel - and with a great roof top bar looking Lord Nelson in the (one) eye!
