Think twice before booking the new Suites

Personal experience. People were very excited with the new Suites, trying hard to book, sadly, I've found out new Suites not much better than the old one.
1. The door is a huge problem, 15cm gap between floor and door with pattern cutouts, significantly reduced privacy. Even old Suites has door that reaches the ground.
2. During taxi, takeoff, landing and meal service, your seat need to face the aisle instead of window, also means you will need to face the passenger in the opposite Suite, luckily I seated in 3A (non double bed row) and no one took the opposite Suite.
3. Seat don't go flat - because you also have a separate bed. It was also hard to see the IFE and easy to fall off.
4. Talking about the separate bed - it was very hard, caused back pain for days only after 3 hours of sleep.
5. Slow Wi-Fi, at least there was 100MB free.
Other than that, the service was exceptional on this flight, and Krug Vintage 2004 were served. Please think twice before book new A380 Suites, especially flyers outside SYD where you need to fork out extra money for connecting flights.

I guess you're referring to Singapore?

I have to agree the so called new suites among SQ, EK and EY's apartment are more of a marketing gimmick. It's great to have lots of foot space in the air, but honestly, by the time you get to first class, space is never an issue. (For business class yes. I often find the seats are quite narrow and foot space very constrained, but not first class.)

IMO, rather than investing on bigger suite, SQ can improve their ground service to make F that little bit extra special like TG in BKK.

I would love to try the new suite some day but yeah, agree I won't fork out extra just to fly the new suite.

I was hoping the mattress would be good. Last time I flew business class on singapore overnight, I got about 2 hours sleep as I was turning all night. Felt like I was sleeping on the floor

Lucky over at one mile at a time published an honest review of the suite - well worth a read.

No, the mattress was way too hard, left my back pain for days. I agree it's still much wider than business.

I have a couple of London trips in the next couple of months, one in new business and one in the new suites. Usually fly Etihad apartment but just keen to try something different. Will be a good comparison.
