Australian Business Traveller is becoming 'Executive Traveller'

By QFP1 | Apr 23, 2019, 04:16 PM
Congratulations to the AusBT team on taking a step onto the global stage with the new Executive Traveller website! For those who have missed today's announcement, there's an FAQ at https://www.ausbt.com.au/introducing-executive-traveller?utm_source=hero.

I've noticed an increase in 'international' stories such as Virgin Atlantic's new A350 Upper Class seat and think this is a good direction you're going in, as there really isn't any international site on par with AusBT, so I look forward to reading the new ET when it launches. Please contact me if you need a beta tester for the new site before it goes live.

This is great news, AusBT already has the best content on CX and SQ which appeals heavily to me, bring on more from around the world! David, does this mean you will be hiring writers based in Asia?

See the FAQ linked to in the opening post of the thread. That answers your question.

I'm not sure I'm enthralled with this. Sounds like AusBT is being consumed by a transatlantic outfit.
Caught me by surprise. There goes the ball game.

No, if you read the FAQs, the ownership is unchanged, they just want to increase relevance/readership for audiences outside Australia by broadening the content.

And what 'ball game' has gone where??

Great step forward for this community imho. Keen to hear more about far flung international travel in addition to the great ‘domestic’ content that we know and love!

Yes, we'll be looking to hire a journalist in each region: so for starters that's one for Asia (based in either Singapore or Hong Kong), one for the UK/EU and one (or more likely two) for North America.

No, as explained in the FAQ article at https://www.ausbt.com.au/introducing-executive-traveller there's no change in ownership – we are simply extending our reach to be international rather than mainly Australian, and changing the brand to suit.

Congrats on achieving a more worldwide spread but please, similar to others fears above, maintain an antipodean focus.

The last thing we want is for the site to become overwhelmed by Northern hemispheric content (and I am living in the Middle East).

Hi Ross: our 'focus' will be global in scope, as befits a site aimed at international business travellers, but you'll certainly continue to see stories relevant to Australian business travellers.

Good on you all, you're head and shoulders ahead of the other sites (including the one that shares most of your name) in reviewing airlines and hotels, and with news that is not only Australian focused, but of interest more generally.

All the best wishes to David, Sid and team in the global expansion. As a long-term AusBT reader it's exciting to see the much-loved website 'spread its wings'. Onwards and upwards …..

Exciting news for AusBT. As an expat, I have shared this site with many people here in Canada and in Europe who all agree, hands down, that you have the most informative, relevant and useful travel site out there. Well done David, Sid and team.
