Emirates Lounges Hong Kong & Dubai

By DVH259 | Jun 11, 2019, 11:39 AM
Hi Everyone,

My wife and I have a first class trip with Emirates from Hong Kong to Paris via Dubai coming up later this month and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on:

1. Which lounge would you recommend in Hong Kong between 4pm and 7pm - Emirates or QANTAS

2. We have a 5 hour layover in Dubai in the middle of the night (11pm to 4am). Has anyone used the quiet rooms in the concourse A lounge for a quick nap, or are there better spots to rest?

Cheers

1. You can access both; my personal preference is for EK.
2. The sleeperettes are very comfortable and I had no problem having a snooze. Eyeshades and bottled water are provided.

Question to all: if the flight for HKG-DXB has a QF flight number but is Emirates tin, would the FC BP allow access to the Cathay Pacific lounges in HKG? If so, they would be great choices for DVH259.

I can’t work out if access will be allowed under OW rules, or blocked due to the actual aircraft being Emirates and so, non OW.

Cathay will not accept QF ticket on EK metal. it is outside of the OW rules.

Usually to use OW lounge, the flight has to be operated (metal) and marketed (flight number) by OW. So, no access on EK metal.

1. I find the Emirates lounge more crowded than the QF ones at early arvo since there aren't many QF departues then. So I would go to the Qantas lounge for the peace and quiet as well as the 'a la carte' style bbq pork rice with Hong Kong style milk tea.

Thanks for the answers re access to the Cathay Pacific lounges. Looks like DVH259 will have to split his time between the QF and EK lounges only.

Have you selected seats yet? I'm doing a similar flight later in the year on the A380 and would like to know best seats for travelling with my wife. Centre seats have the privacy screen but from what I've read are best for couples as they still allow you chat, etc. I've also read that on arrival in DXB head straight to First Class Lounge and book a massage at the Timeless Spa. If you go and sus out the food and seating first all the available spots will be taken up..

We've selected the middle seats from HKG to DXB and windows seats from DXB-CDG just to try the different arrangements.

We've previously done MEL-SIN on the A380 first class in 2017 and selected the centre seats. The privacy screen between seats can be lowered and you can still easily chat etc so it's not a hindrance at all and I would recommend the centre seats when travelling as a pair. Also, a lot of EK A380 first class flights aren't full so when we did the trip in 2017, we were able to move about the cabin and the Flight Attendants set up the beds in one centre pair, and we were able to use another centre pair or window suite for chatting, dinner etc.
