Connecting onto QF9 (domestic leg only)

I'm booked to fly Hobart to Melbourne connecting onto QF9 Melbourne to Perth from the international terminal.

There's a 4 hr gap between flights.

Does anyone know if I'll get both boarding passes and the orange 'D' sticker on Hobart, or if I'll have to hang around international check-in until the desk opens for QF9?

From experience you’ll have to get the sticker in Melbourne, which can be problematic as it generally won’t be staffed until 3 hours prior to the flight.

I connected to QF9 via Melbourne, originating in Sydney, a few weeks ago due to a significant delay to my originally booked direct flight.

The customer service officer in Sydney dug around in his draw and put the orange D sticker on my MEL-PER boarding pass.

I made the same connection from Hobart a couple of months ago. You'll have to wait until you get to Melbourne to receive the D sticker - they don't keep any at HBA. International check-in at MEL won't be open until three hours before QF9, but if you go to the domestic service desk at T1 they'll be able to give you the sticker there. Then you can go straight through to security and passport control without having to wait for check-in.
