Qantas Transfer Sydney International

By JA | Apr 03, 2019, 12:20 AM
Thinking of trying the QF domestic business lounge in Sydney after arriving off an international QF flight. As I'm not parking at Terminal 1, can I use the domestic transfer offered by QF without an onward connecting flight, or will I have to catch the train from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3? Cheers

Failing the QF transfer (think you need a valid onward domestic ticket) you could always catch the free ‘T Bus’... beats having to pay for the train!

They may let on the QF bus if you explain.

You could ask at the Qantas Club international lounge when you are departing. They will at least make a call or give an opinion. Maybe if you show your international boarding pass and Platinum card they will let you use it? I've always had a ongoing domestic flight when I used the transfer bus and they did check at the gate. Let us know.

Did this once after a long-haul international flight. Used the free T bus. Interesting though it was the Qantas lady guarding the premium security check line that gave me a slight grief - she was baffled that I wanted to use the domestic lounge on arrival from an international flight. But she let me through grudgingly after I persisted. Found it rather amusing. Lack of training I suppose.

Attempted this today. It’s a solid no for using the Qantas Domestic transfer bus to get airside at T3, they are really stringent on ‘must have onward boarding pass’ even though I explained the ‘situation’! It was fine when I used the train ($4.50), but the Qantas lounge agent at T3 wasn’t familiar with the rules and had to call over her supervisor! Evidently not many people make the trek over from T1 to T3 for this purpose, but was worth it for a shower and a bite before heading into the CBD.

Thanks JA for letting us know. Expected that response but good to know so not to waste time attempting. Other airlines may be more lenient. Its a bus ride not a free flight.
