The QF DSC offer should be out early Feb if it follows the 2018 pattern - non targeted too.

I'm looking forward to the DSC too ... have got some travel plans sorted, ready to book.

I have bookmarked AusBT and Qantas websites and hit the refresh button twice a day (at least) in the hopes of seeing the DSC appear :)

I think a number of people are hanging out for this (me included). However, past offers are no guarantee of any future offers and QANTAS might try something new. Adethasjce - if it helps you from checking the websites - recent past DSC offers have come out first thing Thursday morning..

Might be easier just to follow us on Twitter or Facebook?

unlikely . normally QF does this pre christmas , just after you have spent big on the kids xmas presents. Also you would of received an invitation email. Once aagin very unlikey within the next 6 months. Maybe xmas 2019 possibly.

Has anyone else noticed the DSC offer is always 1-2 weeks before they release their half year or full year results... FYI the next results are announced on the 21st of Feb.

Probably a good way to tip in a lot of cash to the books

Smart business from virgin today who are trying to disrupt it and being a bit more flexible (and they have results coming out too around the same time)

It has usually been early in the year. The exception was last year with two offers late in the year. The last three years had DSC offers in Late April 2016, Early March 2017 and Early February 2018. Late offers last year were August and October. I am only talking about public offers.

Most believe that there will be a offer between now and April but no doubt it is just wishful thinking.

Is the Qantas loyalty bonus doubled too? Eg if I go mel-lhr which normally would get 560 points + loyalty bonus of 50= 610, with DSC would it become 1220 or 1170?

Assuming that the DSC do not count toward the Loyalty Bonus, it will be 1170. The loyalty bonus remains at 50SC.

I would not bank on an 'early' February DSC offer - QF has just (last Friday) closed a 'Global Red e-Deal' sale, which saw Y SYD-LAX / SFO fares offered at AUD $979 rtn and SYD-DFW/JFK at AUD $1189 rtn. Over the weekend, these e-deal fares increased significantly. LAX now AUD $1314, SFO now AUD $1494, DFW now AUD $1674 and JFK an astronomical AUD $1862.

A 'later' DSC' offer might see the above fares discounted slightly with the additional pull of the DSC to stimulate seat sales.

Bear in mind that whilst the premium cabin searchers are ardent DSC watchers, it is the Y cabin jumpers that tend to be all over DSC offers to obtain additional value - with the potential to push their status levels up a notch, even if the sale prices are either non-existent or not that great. QF seems to have more flexibility on the ability to throw in a random J fare sale or a companion offer.

Given the generally deteriorating Aussie dollar, it would be fair to suggest that QF may be looking for some further stabilisation over the next month or two on both the dollar exchange rate and the cost of oil. And the Global Sale has been replaced by a less generous 'Continent' based sale ie: Europe sale, US sale etc.

I would suggest that any such DSC offer might be no earlier than the end of February / mid March, but hey .. this is all speculation on everyone's behalf.

DSC offers are about cash flow so as Ryan says it is an easy way to dump a lot of cash into the books. The cost is a jump in gold and platinums with the points and lounge costs associated with that. If the recent sale didn’t work as well as expected given uncertainty later in the year then DSC may be sooner than later to get cash in and seats filled later in the year.

From a marketing perspective, I would imagine that a sale on fares is a focused effort to fill seats not to increase revenue (a small increase in revenue would be a spin off), so not sure that the recent sale on fares would influence a decision for a DSC offer. You would think with prices being elevated it's a great time to introduce a DSC offer, because those of us keen to retain our FF status would pay the increased prices since it's still significant value for money for the status credits achieved. I do hope that the observation that the DSC offer is always 1-2 weeks before they release their half year or full year results means we see the announcement this Thursday. I will certainly be ready to pounce!
