Qantas 80 hour rule?

By docsimonm | Oct 05, 2018, 02:49 PM
Hi all,

Not sure if I imagined it, but I can’t seem to find the information regarding when Qantas opens up all of its seats for selection (such as those reserved for higher FF tiers). Can someone kindly refresh my memory? I thought it was 80 hours pre-departure.

Sounds right, although if you are a frequent flyer, you can select at the time of booking.

Yes. Jump onto Manage My Booking a few minutes after T-80 and the magic should occur.

I’ve found its more like the T-79:58 rule..... so long as we’re not fighting for the same seats there won’t be any tears.... :)

It's basically a side effect of the flight going to airport control, which takes it out of reservations hands. It is not specifically about seating allocations, so you won't find anything officially documented about it - it's a side effect, not a design thing.

Remember that the seat map is not guaranteed to open up at T-80. There are a number of reasons why it may not open up, but T-80 is always a good time to check the seat map to see if it has.
