Qantas Ticketed Emirates Flights

By Patricio | Mar 08, 2018, 02:40 PM
I fly Emirates often as a Qantas Gold out of Brisbane. Lately I can't seem to find any Qantas ticketed Emirates flights except at an exorbitantly high price? Currently looking at June to Europe.
Has anyone else noticed this and found a solution?

Thanks

June to Europe = Peak season would it not?

June is European summer and coming into Australian school holidays. Qantas has the ability to independently price its own tickets on codeshare flights (which can be higher or lower than booking directly with the operating airline), so you may need to book directly with Emirates if you want it cheaper: you just won't earn status credits (and will earn fewer points).

See if the fare drops by searching for a multi-city ticket, such as Brisbane to Sydney, Sydney to (destination in Europe) on the same day.

That's what seems to be happening, an independent pricing scenario, previously pricing has been similar despite a busy holiday period. The price is say 2000 different on the same flight ticketed as Qantas in economy which seems abit steep.

I know some friends didn’t book through QF this year as the flights they wanted to book were priced at exorbitant levels.

Don't forget there is no QF service to EU from BNE. Codeshared flights with EK is the only ones. For anyone that needs to chase status will have to pay the extortionate rate unfortunately.

Otherwise, as suggested above, book directly with EK or go with someone else.

Well you'd need to evaluate whether it would be cheaper to book directly with EK and do a separate status run with QF versus paying the exorbitant QF prices.

They may be pushing people onto their own metal either via Perth or Singapore, which would make sense.

I just checked and yes the EK codeshare is only showing Flex fares. There are sale fares 1k cheaper via Singapore but no sale fares via Perth. The website does push people onto their own metal with the EK code share well down the list of options.

I just checked Paris and QF flights on EK planes are slightly cheaper than via Perth or Singapore and LHR. It may be that Emirates is not getting the traffic vis vis QF, and so is discounting more.

Definitely much cheaper to book with EK and miss out of Status Credits and bonus points. Just a shame as I had been used to similar pricing with Qantas ticketed Emirates flights and Emirates themselves for the last few years. Qatar via Sydney or Perth seems to be the next viable option, at least once you get there it's an A380 which Brisbane is set to lose shortly.

From later this month Brisbane residents can once again fly Brisbane-Singapore-London with Qantas, when Qantas switches Dubai for Singapore as the stopover for its QF1/2 flights.

Another QF rip off. They have to pay for Joyce's excessive bonus.

I’ve had this happen randomly - price suddenly shoots up to $2k or more for what is often a $600 flight. Speak to qantas they have no explanation - same flight booked direct with Emirates is the normal price. Doesn’t seem to be any logic to when it occurs.

I prefer the 2:30am BNE-SIN flight - with qantas only operating a daytime Flight on that route it’s a total waste of a day to spend it sitting on an aircraft... also much nicer on a 777 rather than an A330...

Qantas just released sale fare to the UK (amongst other destinations).
Early June (up to 7 June) is maximum discount of $1259 return out of Sydney

The thing QF sometimes don’t realise is that loyalty goes both ways. There comes a price point where you’ll just jump on SQ or whatever and save the money regardless of reward.
