Qantas events for Platinum members

By Scotgoat | Oct 04, 2017, 01:38 PM

Did any Platinum QFFF’s get invited to the Qantas party held at Alchemy for the Brisbane Riverfire? I live in Brisbane with 14 consecutive years at Platinum level averaging 2,150 status points a year, and did not. Those there appeared in there 20’s, what where they being rewarded for. A UK colleague of mine as a Cathay Pacific Marco Polo diamond (emerald) card holder, regularly gets invited to Cathay functions, i.e. Ascot races. They appreciate their frequent flyers, Qantas don’t seem to. Never been invited to anything by Qantas, why not loyal enough?

@Scotgoat my brother was Platinum One and was invited to a wine tasting evening to which I went to as his guest. Great night with wines and they gave us 6 Ridel wine glasses. To answer your question I don't know of any Platinum members being invited to functions or events. Sometimes I feel Qantas need to work better on rewarind their loyal customers.

Have been invited to a couple of events in the past. It doesn't bother me that they either don't hold events or I don't get invited. If the guests were young then chances are they are travel agents or corporate travel managers (i.e. they influence spend going to Qantas).

I think Qantas are doing OK in reciprocating loyalty to the higher tiers of QFF's

It is mostly corporates from businesses who direct all or most of their flying $$ to QF, our CEO and CFO are often invited to these types of things, we are an Australian based business in 7 countries and our travel spend would be considerable, we have mostly been QF over the years with some VA and few others but over the last couple of years we have moved to 100% QF , staff don't have a choice unless QF or One World partner don't fly there, , it s a key focus of QF to lock up corporates.

If I am not mistaken, when QFF created the Platinum One level, invitations to specialty events were touted as a specific benefit for P1's in order to distinguish it from 'regular' Platinum.

To answer your question, NO...!!!, not to any 'real' fun thing. However, did attend a 'birthday party' for QantasLink...nice canapé's, some vin rouge and great QLink caps (both now missing, on someone else's head I guess).

Qantas - it would be great to be invited to something, just to say thanks for the business, and probably of greater value that the 'welcome back Mr Clancy, is there anything we can do for you...?, let us know...!!!' when your down the back of the plane on a weekly commute, it really makes you look like a .... (insert preferred word), especially if you're the only P or P1 on the flight...!!!

I've been P1 for two years, now I'm a QFF Platinum and a Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Club Diamond (two oneworld Emerald)

They sent me a Rimowa Limbo carry-on as 2016 P1 thank you gift.

They sent me a bottle of Krug Vintage 2000 as 2015 P1 thank you gift.

Qantas invited me to several VIP events but declined all of them.

Cathay Pacific even invited me to join their first A350-900 delivery ceremony last year, but I declined.

I haven't receive any invitations during my years as platinum member though.

As a P1 since the level started and sitting on 5000 status credits per year (volume not business class) I have been invited to several events, The Grand Prix when QF a sponsor, wine tasting, a couple of social meet and greets and the Birthday 90th I thing where I was seated on the next table to Alan Joyce and Jon Travolta hosted by a high level exec. I do find it hit and miss tho.....nice when they arrive. Always get some nice bubbles at Christmas as well.

Been a QF platinum for about 12 years. Never been invited to any functions ever. I stopped flying QF in January 2016 but they did send me a new Platinum card on my anniversary in July 2017. Even though I'd not flown with them for 18 months by then.

I was recently invited to a golf tournament in Stoke Park (London) as an ordinary Plat. I guess there's probably not too many P1s based in London.

Honestly how is this different to any other business? Did. You get a invitation from your Bank for a function?? Or did you get one from Coles for being a loyal customer... Please listen to what. You’re saying and be realistic.

Yes, I think the consensus is that QF are treating all clients with contempt, and to top it off now up to Platinum have to pay for Domestic Exit rows. On the other hand, as an Emerald One World, I basically get upgrades almost everytime I fly with Cathay, now that i am Lifetime gold with QF and have been given Gold Status with CX, I am seriously considering putting all my points through CX because they definitely know how to treat their loyal customers.
