England - how to earn QANTAS points

By JJJJJJJ | Sep 04, 2017, 01:17 PM
Hello, my elderly parents WHO LIVE IN ENGLAND haven't used their QF FF points for a year and have been told they'll soon expire.  Can anyone tell me how they can put some activity on their FF accounts in the next week or so?  Which supermarkets are linked to the QF rewards system?  Any ideas please?

May be you can try send some points to them to keep their accounts active?

A Qantas Cash spend would earn points.

Family transfers do not count as activity so they would not prevent the points left in your parents' accounts from expiring. However they could transfer them to you.

QANTAS Cash cards are only sent to Australian residents. If your parents got their last FF card whilst living in Australia then it would have the QANTAS Cash facility on it if it was in recent years.

There are things they could do e.g. buy a QANTAS gift voucher (though that can only be used for QANTAS marketed flights departing from an Australian airport), buy some wine from QANTAS Epiqure etc.

A week is a short window to earn points.

Each of your parents can family transfer up to 600,000 points each membership year. If they haven't got a lot of points but at least 5,000 points each they could transfer points to you (assuming you have activity on your account - you don't want them to transfer to you and pretty much immediately expire because you've had no activity for 18 months), you could get some activity up on their accounts then transfer the points back. You can use the points that they transfer to you to apply for upgrades for them if you're concerned about that.

Yep although it may take up to a month to appear in the account and by that time it may be too little too late.

Basically, everything counts as activity except for a family points transfer.
