HI,

I am a recent amex platinum signup and there is an offer at the moment that is I transfer over 50,000 points to qantas ( I use QFF points all the time so I'm happy with that) then I get a $150 Qantas flight voucher.

Is this a good deal or do better ones come along?

Sounds like a good offer to me. You could transfer the 50K points and use the $150 credit towards your next flight and upgrade w/ points

Qantas regularly offers bonus points on transfers from American Express for Ascent Premium members in the range of 10%-40%, depending on how many points are transferred, although those higher bonus levels tend to apply only on transfers in the high six digits, or in the millions.

Assuming 50,000 points would then often attract a 15% bonus, that's 7,500 bonus Qantas Points, which is just shy of what's needed to book a short flight like Sydney-Melbourne (on which you'd also have to pay taxes and fees when booking), whereas this offer provides a $150 flight voucher for the same transfer, which could be used to book the same flight (and gives the opportunity to earn points and status credits on that flight too, as it's a paid ticket).

Short answer: if you're not going to be in a position to transfer, say, 1 million points to Qantas any time soon, a $150 voucher isn't a bad offer for a transfer of 50,000 points if you were going to send them to Qantas anyway.

perfect that's exactly what I needed to know.

Plus I should transfer them within the next 2 weeks anyway before they get devalued
