China Airlines - Cancelling flight + refund

Hi

Has anyone had any experience with cancelling their flight and applying for a refund?

I booked / paid for business with China Airlines from LHR to SYD and have since found a significantly cheaper business flight with Etihad on the same route / day.

China Airline's has a helpful Q&A page on this and also a handy online refunds page.

Usually, if you booked the flight, you can cancel within 24 hours of booking without a fee. If more than a day since you booked that China Airlines Flight, you will have to contact your travel agent or Airline (depending on who you booked with) to arrange a cancellation of the ticket. Some fare types like a flexible fare allows you to cancel with no or minimal fee whilst others will require you to pay hundreds of dollars in fees. Again refer to the links on China Airline's website above, to find the information that is applicable to you.

Whatever the situation, I have always found China Airlines offices in Australia very helpful in processing a refund or dealing with any problems that may have arisen.

Thanks guys - I had seen the FAQ on their website but our issue was that the credit card on which the fare had been purchased was subsequently cancelled.

The lady I spoke to said we would have to contact AMEX to see how we would go about reactivating the card etc. which was too much effort for the cheaper flight cost.

Also a point on fare class, I had to put through a dummy booking on the China Airlines website to be able to check the cancellation fee. This wasn’t readily available on the website.
