Qatar from Canberra

We've booked a return flight in J with Qatar. Oslo-Sydney, then Canberra-Sydney-Oslo.Booked the Canberra routing as it was much cheaper then departing from Sydney.
Once we do the Oslo-Sydney leg, what do you think my chances are of asking Qatar if we can skip the Canberra-Sydney leg, and depart from Sydney, without a fee? Has anyone done anything similar?
Thanks

Missing the leg will invalidate the rest of your ticket - you'll need to call Qatar and have your ticket reissued if you want to do that, which may attract a fee.

A silly revenue protection rule from airlines. The stupidity is that it costs it money to cponvey him on this short leg so if he skips it, he's doing the airline a favour.

I suggest getting the train down to Canberra ex Sydney. More comfy than buses and much cheaper than flying.

The CBR train station is in a poor location while the interstate bus station is within 5 minutes walk of the Civic bus interchange and the 11A public transport bus to the airport.

+1 for the train option. Book First Class. It's almost like a heritage rail experience, and then you can just get a taxi to the airport. Probably less than AUD$15.

The other irony of this situation is the flying from Canberra is usually much more expensive than Sydney...

Actually I have book numerous J class flights from Canberra and the prices with Singapore Airlines and Qatar have been excellent and cheaper than leaving from Sydney. It's been great.

Thanks all. I'll probably book a reward flight from Sydney to Canberra. Still works out cheaper, as I think there was a $500 difference flying from Canberra to Oslo vs Sydney to Oslo. I presume Qatar (and SQ?) are really trying to promote that leg?

Sometimes airlines are frustrating. Imagine going to a restaurant and you find that by ordering a desert in addition to the entree and main, you'll end up 20% less for the entire three courses over just having the original two.
