China Airlines goes daily on Taipei-Brisbane-Auckland flights

China Airlines will boost its Taipei-Brisbane and Brisbane-Auckland flights to a daily schedule from December 2017.

The SkyTeam member currently has four flights a week on its Airbus A330, which is a popular option for Brisbane's trans-Tasman travellers.

Ray Chang, China Airlines' General Manager Brisbane, touts the flights as "perfect for travellers looking to fly conveniently up to Asia, over to Europe or across to North America."

“Our evening departure from Brisbane to Taipei means travellers can relax overnight and make easy onwards connections the next morning."

“China Airlines also connects with 12 points in Japan, delivering travellers from Queensland right to the doorstep of the ski-fields in full service comfort with baggage and meals all included."

Sydney-Auckland flights axed

China Airlines has also moved forward plans to cancel the Sydney–Auckland leg of its Taipei-Sydney flights – those will now end on July 13, rather than December 1.

This happens to be the same day that Emirates pulls the plug on its Sydney-Auckland Airbus A380, a move the Gulf carrier says was dictated by the high degree of competition on that route.

However, a spokesperson for Emirates maintains there are no plans to drop the other trans-Tasman Airbus A380 flights from Melbourne and Brisbane.

Hi David, any word on when they will sub in the A350 on Brisbane flights?

For Brisbane based Japan Ski aficionados, they have excellent connections to Sapporo via Taipei, very well priced on the 330s. If pricing holds for the 350s, will be very hard to beat

Keep a close eye on Eva Air, they plan to go daily also in 2017/18, and if everything goes to plan introduce the 777 out of BNE in late 2018.

Both BR and CI are very well priced even in J. Roughly $3000 rt to Japan. Only complain I would have is that the A330 J is very out dated. So if both will bring their flagship J (A350/77W) to BNE it will be great.

Don't expect daily from Eva to BNE. They are reducing to 4x weekly from September 4.

That would be great if both BR and CI bring the 777 to BNE!
