BA pops cork on new Champagne list for first & business class, lounges

British Airways is extending its selection of Champagnes – and local English 'sparkling wines' – in first class and Club World business class, as well as on the ground at BA's first class lounges.

In BA First Lounges – which are open not only to first class travellers but passengers holding top-tier frequent flyer status, such as BA Executive Club Gold, Qantas Platinum and Platinum One, and other Oneworld Emerald tiers – there's now a choice between Canard-Duchêne Charles VII Champagne and Champagne Jeeper Brut Grand Rosé.

When it's time to fly, the first class cabins on BA's Boeing 777, Boeing 787-9 and and Airbus A380 will be stocked with Lanson Rosé Champagne and Gusbourne, an English sparkling wine from vineyards in Kent and West Sussex, alongside longtime favourite Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle.

The drops of choice in Club World business class are Canard-Duchêne Cuvee Léonie Brut Champagne and Champagne Besserat de Bellefon, with Castelnau champagne continuing to be served in BA's Galleries business class lounges.

British Airways says it serves "more than two million bottles of bubbles a year," with this sparkling upgrade tied into an ongoing investment for premium passengers which to date has seen a new 'restaurant-style' dining service and sleep service featuring bedding by The White Company...

... plus new lounges (Rome is particularly impressive) and the rollout of inflight WiFi.

This is all leading up to the launch of an all-new Club World business class seat which will debut on British Airways' forthcoming fleet of Airbus A350 jets in 2019.
