Accor Le Club Platinum members get Brisbane Sofitel Club lounge access

Top-tier Platinum cardholders in the Le Club AccorHotels loyalty scheme can now relax and unwind at the Sofitel Brisbane’s ‘Sofitel Club’ executive lounge even when booked in the most basic room type.

Touted by the property as Australia’s largest hotel executive lounge, it’s open from 6:30am until 10pm daily – offering a selection of all-day refreshments, wireless Internet access and two different zones that can be screened off for private meetings as needed.

That also means Platinum members can devour the Sofitel Club breakfast at no extra charge: served daily from 6:30am until 10am, extended until 10:30am on weekends when Champagne is also available. Pre-dinner canapés arrive at 5:30pm with dessert plated up from 8:30pm.

Sofitel Brisbane formally joined the Le Club program in July last year, but initially took the lead of the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth and Sofitel Melbourne on Collins hotels in denying lounge access to Platinum-grade members unless booking a room type that included this perk.

An AccorHotels spokesperson confirmed to Australian Business Traveller that the restriction still applies at these Sydney and Melbourne properties, although access to hotel lounges continues to be offered as standard across the globe to Le Club Platinum members.

It seems like they have excluded Brisbane as well when I have a look today.

    On their website

    http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/leclub/program/cards-status-benefits.shtml

    Access to Executive lounge
Upon request and subject to availability on arrival at the hotel, if existing (except Sofitel Melbourne, Sofitel Brisbane and Sydney).

Hi solo6005, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We have confirmed with Accor that Platinum members continue to receive lounge access at the Sofitel Brisbane hotel and that Accor is investigating why this old exception has re-appeared on the website.

You might also like to ask them why the booking page on www.accorhotels.com for Sofitel Melbourne has a logo "Participating Le Club Accorhotels", which when hovered over states "This hotel participates fully in the Le Club AccorHotels program.  You will benefit from all of the advantages of Le Club Accorhotels in this hotel (earn & burn points and receive in-hotel benefits).

Seem pretty clear to me that "participates fully" should mean including lounge access.  As I just booked based on this on the web-site (forgetting the silly fine print), I am anticipating an interesting discussion.  Procuring bookings this way, then not honouring the details would be misleading.  I have a screen shot of the web site.

Hi Keith, you'd need to raise this directly with Accor or Sofitel.

    Hi All

Have an update here and GOOD news. I just stayed the last two nights at Sofitel Melbourne and as a Accor Platinum I got lounge access. The nice gentleman at reception advised the policy changed two weeks ago. He said he thought it also changed in Sydney.

Sofitel lounge in Melbourne is great - its now my new favourite hotel. Lounge access makes a huge difference. So glad they finally joined every other Sofitel in the world in giving lounge access to Plat.
