In brief: Virgin Australia's most frequent flyers with Velocity Gold membership will enjoy access to Singapore Airlines' highly-regarded Kris Lounges from August 1st.
The lounge swap comes as part of the alliance between Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines, announced earlier today.
But while the full arrangement will require approval by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and may not be in place until closer to the end of the year, Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti confirmed that reciprocal lounge access did not involve the ACCC and so would commence on August 1st.
This means that Velocity Gold members – as well as those in the forthcoming elite Velocity Premium tier – will be able to use Singapore Airlines' SilverKris airport lounges around the world, as well as the and KrisFlyer Gold Lounge in Singapore.
Naturally, the deal works the other way as well, with the doors to Virgin Australia's lounges - such as the swish new Melbourne airport lounge - also being opened to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Gold members from August.
