Virgin Australia's Velocity offers bank point transfer bonuses

By John Walton     Filed under: points, Virgin Australia, Velocity Frequent Flyer

If you're sitting on a stack of bank or credit card points -- from American Express Membership Rewards or any of seven other Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer card partners -- now's a good time time to turn them in, with bonus points for transfers from now through 31 October.

And who doesn't love extra points?

The airline has sent out emails spruiking its latest bonus for Amex, Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, St George, ANZ (and its Business One Visa), BankSA and Bank of Melbourne get 15 percent.

American Express Membership Rewards Ascent Premium cardholders get an extra five percent, at 20 percent.

There's also a prize draw -- which includes a million Velocity points as part of the grand prize -- if you transfer between now and 30 September.

You'll want to make sure you take a look at the terms and conditions of the bonus offer and the usual transfer conditions (including minimum points thresholds) for turning one set of points into another.

If you don't currently meet the minimum points threshold, all isn't lost -- offers like this tend to come around every so often, so make sure that your email address is up to date with your frequent flyer program and that you've ticked the right boxes in your mailing preferences to let them send you notifications of this kind of promotion.

Anyone have any theories on why Velocity never incliude Citibank in these bonus deals?
