Rydges Sydney Airport Hotel now open

By David Flynn     Filed under: Sydney Airport, Rydges

Sydney now has its first real airport hotel, following this week's opening of the Rydges Sydney Airport.

Located at the arrivals court of the international terminal, rather than an adjacent suburb, room-only rates at thethe 4½ star hotel start at $200, with $250 packages including breakfast and wi-fi.

Rydges says that special glass keeps noise levels "lower than most city hotel rooms" so that direct views of the runway can be enjoyed in peace.

The 318-room hotel includes 11 conference rooms which hold from 10 to 190 people with "state-of-the-art audio visual equipment, video conferencing facilities, broadband and wi-fi access".

A flat-rate Quick Meets package will also be available for anyone arriving at the airport and needing conference facilities for up to four hours, and includes catering for up to ten people. Quick Meets rates span from $250 for one hour to $650 for four hours.

A free shuttle bus will also operate for guests between the hotel and domestic airport from 6am-11pm daily.

“The hotel is set to be a hub not just for travellers, but also interstate and overseas business guests" says Tish Nyar, General Manager for Rydges Sydney Airport Hotel.

"Being conveniently located just ten minutes from Sydney CBD by train and right next to the international terminal building, the hotel is the perfect location for people coming to Sydney and looking for somewhere to hold a meeting or function that is more easily accessible than the usual Sydney venues and offers great parking rates.”

"Being conveniently located just ten minutes from Sydney CBD by train....."  The drawback of it being at the terminal is that you do have to stump up the 16 odd aud one way trainfare due to the ridiculous surcharge....whereas if you go to Mascot it is only 3.80aud! Other than that it looks like a very decent hotel and perfect for an overnight stay.

Interesting to see on their website that they've arranged 50% off parking rates at the International Airport Self Park car park.

I wonder if this includes parking for longer than your stay at the hotel? i.e. Book an overnight room at the hotel before your early departure, then leave your car in the car park for the duration of a week-long O/S trip for 50% off?

I've seen other hotels nearby Sydney airport offer something similar, but not actually using the airport car park itself.

Sydney Airport do have some pretty cheap parking rates if you book online.  Last December I went overseas for 3 1/2 weeks and I booked online they had a deal for $199.00 for 1 months parking.  This was at the big undercover car park at T1.  I thought that was a pretty good deal.
