Refunds from Qantas shutdown: tomorrow is your last day

By David Flynn     Filed under: qantas, strikes, Qantas strikes, shutdown

IN BRIEF | Were you stranded by last October's dramatic Qantas shutdown, which grounded the Red Roo's domestic and international fleet for 48 tumultuous hours?

Then you've got until tomorrow to file for your refund on your ticket, says the airline.

One of the conditions laid out on Qantas "Expenses and Refunds from the Grounding of Qantas Flights" web page is that "Refunds requests must be submitted no later than 31 January 2012."

These refunds were just one measure introduced by Qantas as a salve for up to 100,000 passengers caught up in the turmoil.

Also up for grabs were free flights, bonus frequent flyer points, reimbursement for meals and accommodation during the shutdown and €600 compensation for passengers stranded in Europe, as required under European ‘air passenger rights’ law.
