Qantas is gearing up for the opening of its new Qantas Club lounge at Gold Coast Airport next week.
While there's an official ribbon-cutting and 'champagne high tea' media event planned for the the afternoon of Tuesday December 4, Qantas tells us the lounge may open a few days earlier depending on how the final fitout progresses – so Gold Coast travellers should keep their eyes peeled just in case.
The new Qantas Club is a substantial overhaul of the airport's former Jetstar lounge, located just past the airport's domestic security gates and to the left.
With room for 125 customers, the lounge sports the same warp-speed Optus wireless Internet as its siblings, along with a buffet selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner and an all-day barista service.
The lounge comes as part of Qantas' much-trumpeted return to the Gold Coast, with three flights per day timed for morning, afternoon and evening.
Qantas has already installed a 'tap-and-go' check-in tower for its Smarter Faster Checkin service, which works with a quick swipe of your smartchipped Qantas card, with a self-service bag drop facility also in the works.
And as previously reported, Platinum-grade Qantas Frequent Flyers and business class travellers will also enjoy access to an express security lane at Gold Coast Airport that's scheduled to open this weekend.
