Malaysia Airlines debuts Airbus A380 on KL-Paris flights

By David Flynn     Filed under: Airbus A380, Kuala Lumpur, Paris, Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia Airlines will launch its second Airbus A380 destination with the start of a daily superjumbo service between Kuala Lumpur and Paris from March 1.

The Malaysian flag-carrier, which is set to join the oneworld airline alliance next week, already runs two daily A380 flights to London and seeks to bolster its European presence thanks to the Paris-bound superjumbo.

This will replace the current Boeing 777 used by MAS for the KL-Paris run, not only substantially boosting the number of seats (from the 777's 282 seats to the A380s 494 seats) but also introducing MAS first class to the route.

The A380 sports eight First Class seats on the main deck, each with a pitch of 89 inches and convertible into a full flat bed of 87 inches length and a width of 40 inches. Each seat also boasts an individual 23-inch in-flight entertainment screen with personal closet and stowage for coat, luggage, laptop and personal belongings.

MAS previously planned to bring an A380 onto the Sydney-KL route from November 26 last year, with Melbourne tipped to follow in March, to provide an 'A380 all the way' experience from Sydney and Melbourne through to London, however the airline axed that plan in early October 2012.

already booked it but website doesnt acknowlege qantas ff yet. Seems strange just a week out & on both qantas & malaysian websites no mention of the oneworld linkup, qantas obsessed with emirates which has a very patchy business class offering out of perth & dubai airport has a poor reputation.

Used to fly malaysian alot when it was linked to ansett, so looking forward to trying them again, they always had great service on board, hope it is still as good.
