Logitech is now serving up three new pairs of noise-cancelling cans under its premium Ultimate Ears brand, in sizes little and large and priced from $300 to $500.
Things kick off with the Logitech UE 6000 ($300), seen below.
This around-the-ear design is fitted with 'breathable' memory foam cushions and a flat-folding design so they take up a bit less room in your carry-on bag. There's also a splitter so your travelling partner can connect a second pair of headphones to share your music.
If you're really keen, the detachable cable with inline remote control and microphone lets the UE 6000 work with an iPhone.
The bigger and more brutish-looking UE 9000 is a wireless over-ear design clocking in at $500.
These connect via Bluetooth to any device from your laptop to your smartphone, although you also get a cable for times when you want go go wired – or if the UE 9000 reaches the limit of its 10 hours of wireless battery life before you can recharge the battery.
The articulating joints help adjust the UE 9000 for maximum fit and comfort, while discreetly placed touch controls let you flick between songs, adjust the volume and answer a call on your Bluetooth smartphone.
However, we reckon the tiny Ultimate Ears 900 (also $500) will attract plenty of attention from business travellers.
The UE 900 are in-ear 'noise isolating' buds – a design favoured by many frequent flyers as they're easy to wear while you snooze, as well as having minimal impact on your carry-on.
Just don't think of them as any old pair of earbuds. The UE 900s pack twin four-armature speakers with a three-way crossover to deliver what Logitech promises to be "an impressively wide soundstage with soul-satisfying bass, heavenly highs and a crisp, piano-like timbre." (We'll let you know if they're really that good once we've taken our review pair on a flight.)
Small but sensible touches include detachable cables, ear loops plus a range of different silicon and foam tips for a secure and comfortable fit.
