Get an Air New Zealand Airpoints account for free

Travel tip: Like Qantas and certain other airlines, Air New Zealand charges a nominal fee to join its Airpoints frequent flyer programme.

But a current promotion lets you skip the usual NZ$50 (A$37) sign-up fee.

Enroll for signing up at www.airpoints.co.nz, and on the screen where you'd usually enter your credit card details, click the 'Joining Fee Waiver' option and use the promotional code FAIRY.

That's all there is to it! You're now a member of Airpoints, which also means you can earn and burn those AirNZ points on flights with Star Alliance partners.

Great tip. I tried signing up online using the promo code you supplied, however there doesn't seem to be anywhere to put the code?

Everybody hates that "safety" video. Which, like the mess that is the new "Cripple Seven", guarantees that Air NZ won't change a thing.
